Webelos Den Kickoff Meeting & BBQ Potluck

Hello Webelos Den Families!  I hope you and your family are enjoying the summer break!

I would like to remind everyone that we have our Webelos Den Kickoff  Meeting and BBQ Potluck on Sunday, July 20th at Brea Dam Recreational Park.

We'll be finalizing the calendar of events for the upcoming school/scouting year and will be providing the details of the Webelos Scouting program for 2014-2015.

If you're not out of town and/or on vacation, I highly urge that you schedule this event in your diaries and plan on attending.  Having all the families at the kickoff will really help us ensure a fun and great scouting year.  

Six out of the eight families in our den are new to scouting and having everyone at the Kickoff will enable everyone to be properly oriented and briefed on how to have a fun and enjoyable scouting adventure with your son.  Of course, details such as uniforms, scout books, etc. will also be covered.

Everyone should have received an Evite in their mailbox.  Thanks to Jennifer C. for creating the flyer and setting up the Evite.  Kindly RSVP using the Evite sent to your email mailbox.

Lastly, it's not too late to join the Summertime Cub Scout Pack 1238 BBQ & Bonfire at Huntington Beach this Saturday, July 12th.  It will be a fun day and evening at the beach and you'll get a chance to meet the rest of the families in our Pack and enjoy s'more at our beach bonfire!

You should have received an email message earlier regarding the event.  If you didn't receive the email (apologies), please let me know (so we can add you to the distribution list) and I will forward you the original email message.

Hope to see everyone on July 20th (and maybe even this Saturday, July 12th...)!

Map and Compass Belt Loop Activity

Our den hike is this Sunday, May 18th.  We'll start our hike from the Fullerton Sports Complex at 8:30am and hike for about 2 to 3 miles on the Brea Dam and Lost Trails.  We'll also cover maps and compass so that our scouts can achieve the "Map and Compass" belt loop.  Meet at the Fullerton Sports Complex - at the picnic tables behind the big playground structure. Uniforms will be Class B (pack t-shirt/scout shorts/socks/hat). Please email Erwin for more details and to RSVP.

Bears and Webelos I Dens @ Scout-O-Rama 2014

Mark your calendars and join our dens to attend Orange County’s largest scouting event and “trade show” of the year — Scout-O-Rama! It will surely be a family fun filled day of exhibits, outdoor competitions, skits and live demonstrations showcased by local Orange County Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout Troops and scouting related exhibitors.

The event officially starts at 9:00am, but we plan to get an early start and beat the crowd by meeting at 8:15am @ DK’s Donuts in Orange (3744 E. Chapman Ave., Orange, 92869). We will then caravan to the event.  Bring your own lunch or plan to purchase lunch from vendors.

                with our Bear and Webelos Den and earn new belt loops and activity pins

  2. Purchase and bring Scout-O-Rama 2014 Camp Card ($10). The card enters entire family.
  3. Arrive at DK’s Donuts by 8:15 am to caravan as a group to event in Silverado.
  4. Bring brown bag lunch to event or plan to purchase lunch from vendors at event.
  5. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
  6. Bring plenty of water, hat and sunscreen! Plan for hot weather!

Bears and Webelos Kayaking Day

Calling all Bears and Webelos Scouts! Join us on a guided kayaking adventure at the Newport Sea Base on Saturday, April 19th, 2014!

We will kayak around Newport Harbor from 9:30am-11:30am. Afterwards, we will enjoy our brown bag lunch at the picnic tables.

Online Registration deadline is 4/16/14.
